Art Therapy San Diego

For Children & Adults in San Marcos, CA

Art Therapy for anxiety and trauma.

You’re tired. You struggle to find the words to convey all the feelings that swirl inside.

You’ve tried other things to help deal with the overwhelm. Talking in therapy, EMDR, talking to friends, talking to a psychiatrist, but none of it really helped you get it out.

You wish you could rise above it so you don’t feel continually haunted by the past.

Every day it impacts you and fills you with anxiety. You feel it in your body. It makes it hard to concentrate on other things, like work or being in the moment with the people you love.

You don’t know how to move forward or how to calm your body. You don’t know how to talk about your trauma without feeling like it’s happening all over again.

Using Art Therapy to Deal with Anxiety & Trauma

My name is Tami and I help kids in child therapy and adults with anxiety tell their stories, and safely share their emotions in powerful ways using creative expression.

As an Art Therapist, I guide clients as they revisit difficult or traumatic experiences in a way that feels safer and less overwhelming than recounting the event with words.

Art Therapy is an active, engaging therapy that incorporates creativity and image-making to move you toward healing. It’s real therapy that goes beyond dialogue and helps address recurring images you experience. You’ll be encouraged to exert personal agency in creating art, that can feel empowering.

There is no critique or interpretation, only validation, and curiosity to understand.

As a Registered Art Therapist in San Diego, my first priority is for you to feel safe. I will serve as your guide and empathic witness. With master’s level training, and experience in trauma-informed care I’ll tailor treatment to address your issues in ways that talking alone may not accomplish.

As a client, you will experience unconditional positive regard for who you are and the art you create. You’ll have an opportunity to safely share the meaning of your art, how it connects with your story, and experience “Aha” moments along the way.
