Providing Anxiety Therapy in San Diego North County & online throughout California for Adults

Therapist in San Marcos, CA. providing Online Therapy.

Online therapy for anxiety.

You’ve noticed that you aren’t sleeping well. Actually, you haven’t slept well for years. All the uncertainty and changes have left you feeling heavy and burdened. You haven’t felt like yourself in a long time.

Often when you think about therapy, you put off making a call. You feel like you just don’t have the time to invest in your own well-being right now. You’re so busy with work, managing a home, and caring for your family.

Online therapy may help you get started.

For several years, I had the opportunity to provide therapy in clients’ homes. I noticed that clients seemed more at ease in their own surroundings. At home, you too may find therapy feels more comfortable. A safer place to start and ease into therapy. As an added bonus, you won’t have to add the task of driving to an in-person office for your sessions.

What is online therapy and how does it work?

Therapy conducted remotely has several names. Some common names are virtual therapy, online therapy, online counseling, telehealth, teletherapy, and video sessions.

Basically, you and the therapist are at different locations.

We communicate through electronic means that include video conferencing or phone. It’s a therapy session, so you need to find a quiet, private location with a good internet connection.

When I provide online therapy, it’s through a private and secure, HIPAA-compliant client portal. This client portal is an Electronic Health Record System that will generate an appointment reminder and a link directly for the appointment.

Video appointments for Parent meetings

I meet with parents for a 60-minute intake appointment before bringing a child to any therapy appointment. These are often conducted through video, but I also meet with parents in person. Weekly appointments to coach a parent in responding to their anxious child, can also be via video.

Video appointments for Adult Anxiety treatment

If I'm meeting with an adult for ongoing anxiety treatment, then I recommend meeting in person. Once we've established a good therapy relationship, video appointments typically work fine.

Video appointments for Child Therapy in San Diego

I provide therapy for elementary school-aged kids struggling with anxiety. With kids, I meet in person. Your child needs to be in person for therapy, especially at younger ages.

There are times when you may need a video appointment due to various unexpected events. Your youngest is running a fever, and you don’t want your older child to miss their therapy appointment. In those instances, it’s usually easy to switch to a video appointment. Sometimes the child you’re bringing to therapy is feeling unwell. In those cases, I often meet with parents for a parenting session if possible.

Video appointments for Art Therapy in San Diego

Art Therapy is an active therapy. It involves the use of art materials, the creative process, psychological theory, and mental health assessment. While you may be able to attend an art class online, I am unable to facilitate art therapy in the same manner.

My preference, to provide you with my best, is to meet in person. This provides me the ability to witness your or your child's process to a greater degree. I'm also able to help my clients move through challenges and difficult emotions.
